The Carnival Celebration was built in 2022. The Celebration is named after the original Celebration that sailed with Carnival from 1987 - 2008. It has two unique zones not found on its sister ships: The Gateway, an area dedicated to travel and Carnival's history, and 820 Biscayne which has a retro-Miami vibe. Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are the newest and biggest ships in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet. Both Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are in the Excel class, with Carnival Jubilee joining them in December 2023.Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras offer more fun than ever before; after all, that is part of their brand! The Excel class of ships are 40% larger than all the other I have been on both the Celebration and the Mardi Gras. They are basically identical minus some of the theme areas. The Mardi Gras has a New Orleans/Mardi Gras theme while the Celebration is Miami/Art Deco. The biggest difference in venues is two of the bars on deck six. They have different themes and drinks on the two ships. On the other hand, the Carnival Celebration is the newest vessel from Carnival. The Carnival Jubilee, launching in December 2023, will have its own unique zones. With a range of amenities and unique ship features, both the Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras offer an enticing cruise experience. Itineraries I've narrowed our choices down to Celebration and Mardi Gras based on my casino offers. I've had better experiences sailing from Canaveral (Mardi Gras) vs. Miami (Celebration) but feel like Celebration might be the better ship? I haven't sailed on anything bigger than Breeze on Carnival and am not very familiar with pros and cons of the newer Kids were more on Celebration, but that I believe was just time frame as it was a July cruise vs a Mardi Gras late September. Food are pretty much the same each day (eg. street foods are always BBQ pork bun and Pad Thai for day 1). Shows are similar but Mardi Gras shows have a magician for intros (but he’s kinda lame). EDIT: The rendering of Celebration at the top of the "Explore your ship" page with deck plans etc seems to be just a copy of the Mardi Gras - it shows the same aft-of-bulge profile as Mardi Gras, which doesn't match the deck plans. I saw the ship size, which is significantly smaller than the oasis class of Royal Caribbean and yet, the passenger capacity is about the same. It'd be different if you were talking about Carnival's older ships for booze cruises, but the Vista should provide similar levels of service, options, and class as the Mardi Gras. Good morning, My wife and I are just starting to plan a cruise for the winter of 2024 and are considering giving Carnival a try. Our only other Cruise was on the MSC Seaside a few years ago and from what I've heard, the experience between the two companies will be pretty different.
