The Mardi Gras/Celebration/Jubilee will have more, and better, fast-casual food options (breakfast and lunch). Guy's Burgers and Shaq's Big Chicken are amazing. Dinner in the main dining room honestly never felt too different to me between the lines (both can have hits and misses depending on the night/sailing). The Center Stage is a beautiful venue but is terrible for seating. The production shows, since they’re new for carnival on this stage, tend to fill up fast. I would get there up to an hour early and just chat and have some drinks. I will say shows on the Jubilee seemed less popular than on the Mardi Gras or the Celebration. I have been on both the Celebration and the Mardi Gras. They are basically identical minus some of the theme areas. The Mardi Gras has a New Orleans/Mardi Gras theme while the Celebration is Miami/Art Deco. The biggest difference in venues is two of the bars on deck six. They have different themes and drinks on the two ships. The Mardi Gras has the same number of dining venues. Some of its popular venues are ChiBang, Seafood Shack, and Big Chicken. nineteen of these restaurants are complementary and the other nine have an additional fee. The Carnival Jubilee has about the same number of dining options as the Carnival Mardi Gras. Very similar layouts (venues have different names) to Celebration and Mardi Gras (all excel class sister ships). If you google the same cabin type for Celebration or even MG (oldest of the 3 excel ships) , you will get not only pix and video links for the other 2 ships but reviews that could help you with your question for excel class ships. We have been on the Mardi Gras and are curious about what the difference’s might be between the two? I really like the 6 day itinerary as we have never been to Maghony Bay! The Carnival Mardi Gras has a total of 6 pools and 7 hot tubs. 2 of the pools are exclusive access, which means there's either an extra charge to access them or you need to book a certain class of cabin to have access to them. The Carnival Jubilee has the same number of pools as the Mardi Gras and the same number of hot tubs. All of Carnival’s Excel Class ships are reused names from older Carnival ships, paying homage to Carnival’s longtime history. Mardi Gras was Carnival’s first cruise ship, which set sail in 1972. Similarly, the original Carnival Celebration was built in 1987, whereas the MS Jubilee first sailed in 1986. Carnival Jubilee Did Mardi Gras last year and this year Jubilee. Same ship minus a few different bar placements. I liked Dr Inks better then Fortune Teller. Wasn’t a fan of leaving from Galvestons vs Florida. Weather was terrible first 36 hours. I did hear Florida wasn’t great either so maybe it was just a cold stretch everywhere. Food was good. Service was We were on the Mardi Gras last January for eight days. We were on the Celebration this past December for 16 days. We are booked for the Mardi Gras for three weeks this coming September. Both ships are marvelous. The entertainment on both was the best I've ever seen on Carnival. I've cruised both ships plus the two newer Carnival LNG ships, Celebration and Jubilee, and several other Carnival ships. Both ships are nice although the Mardi Gras being a good bit larger has more entertainment, more bars, more food options, and larger crowds. I would consider the features of both ships as one point of consideration. Overall, I don't know if your experience will be much different on Mardi Gras. The layout is totally different, but it's the same kind of experience overall. It'd be different if you were talking about Carnival's older ships for booze cruises, but the Vista should provide similar levels of service, options, and class as the Mardi Gras. Hey guys, wife and I just booked our first cruise in we think 5 years. Finally getting a honeymoon since tying the knot 4 years ago and two kids later. Right now we have a balcony on deck 16 of the Carnival Madi Gras, wondering if upgrading to a balcony room on the spa deck would be with it? as has been said i'm sure many times, it's actually such a shame carnival didn't go forward with their ambitious pinnacle project in the mid-2000s when they had a design that would put their stamp on the industry, well before the oasis class debuted. if only they pushed forward and we all could've maybe had 5-6 Mardi Gras ships out there by now I highly recommend looking at carnivals site for jubilee but to get a feel there are a lot of great YouTube videos of celebration tours! I cannot speak to Western vs Eastern itins since I live in Florida. But Easterns are more popular out of Galveston since they are a bit more rare!! My vote is Jubilee hands down!! Carnival is also a great line for kids, but their kids clubs are smaller and just have a different vibe. When I cruised with kids my kids loved RCCL, carnival not so much. Mardi Gras is carnival's latest and greatest so your fine in that department, but If you have the opportunity to sail on an Oasis class for the same cost then I would do that. The Carnival Jubilee is a fairly new ship, being built in 2023. The Jubilee is Carnival's newest ship. It's named after the original Jubilee that sailed with Carnival from 1986 - 2004. It has two unique zones not found on its sister ships, The Shores, a beach-themed area, and Currents which explores the depths of the ocean. I’ve been on many Carnival ships and Mardi Gras is my favorite. So if the ship is a more important deciding factor than the itinerary, I’d definitely go Mardi Gras. That said, Horizon isn’t a bad ship, it’s just not the latest, greatest, biggest like Mardi Gras, Celebration, and Jubilee. YouTube and deck plans are great for this. For example we loved how close Camp Ocean was to our family harbor room on Mardi Gras. After looking at deck plans for the next ship I was interested in booking, Horizon, I found that Camp Ocean is up on the higher decks instead of where it was on Mardi Gras. I was ok with this so booked it. Just wanted to share photos of the excel aft corner suite on the Mardi Gras in case anyone is looking to book it. My husband and I saved for a few years for this room to celebrate our anniversary.
