Loads of people are excited about Mardi Gras, and when the Carnival ship debuts with Caribbean cruises from Port Canaveral in 2021 folks are in for a whole bunch of onboard treats. Mardi Gras is going to be packed with fun of all kinds: tried-and-true fan-faves, new experiences and even an innovative can-you-believe-that or two! At check-in, guests must present their boarding pass, picture ID and citizenship documents (including any necessary visas). Due to security protocol, last minute bookings made within 24 hours of sailing will require guests to undergo a secondary screening. We were on Mardi Gras 12/11 and 3/12 and boarding was a very easy process both times, very organized. In December we arrived a few minutes after 11:00 am and waited in a short line to check in. Once checked in, we went through security and pretty much walked right on the ship at 11:35. Can someone explain boarding zones to me? I've never been on a cruise that used them and I have no idea how they work. How do they assign zones? I figure we'll probably be arriving at the cruise terminal around 11. We are Platinum and on a recent cruise we had the same arrival time but were in zone A02. Should we arrive later to avoid waiting a long time in the terminal? I read somewhere the zones are 1-13? Thanks for any suggestions. At 10:30 they made an announcement that boarding would start in 30 mins. At 10:50 they started boarding suites. Then the A groups started. This was NOT on the boarding pass I had for the Freedom two weeks ago. I guess it's like the arrival appointment time. We Plat's have to pick one, and they CCl have to give us a zone number. There is a priority line as well as a priority waiting area. Last month on Mardi Gras we had a 10:00 - 10:30 arrival time. Can anyone explain Boarding Zones to me??? Carnival’s Priority Check-in is an exclusive service designed to afford our VIFP Diamond, Platinum and deluxe suite guests with special embarkation and debarkation privileges on cruises from the U.S. and Europe. Priority Check-in is not offered for Carnival Journeys cruises. Fort Lauderdale - We had FTTF and arrived at 10:30. They started boarding FTTF around 10:50 and the first few zones were called as we were boarding the ship. So anyone with an early boarding zone who arrived before their appointment time was able to board the ship before their appointment time. One of the ship’s designers told me that Mardi Gras’ casino is 3o percent larger than you’ll find on any other ship in the Carnival fleet, and it shows.
