Carnival Mardi Gras October 14 2023. Juz cruisin; Oct 1 We were on Mardi Gras 12/11 and 3/12 and boarding was a very easy process both times, very organized. In December we arrived a few minutes after 11:00 am and waited in a short line to check in. Once checked in, we went through security and pretty much walked right on the ship at 11:35. Carnival Horizon and Carnival Celebration announced the same embarkation time change out of Port Miami. Both ships have changed their all aboard time to 3:30pm Eastern time instead of the originally stated 4:00pm. There were several impacted itineraries for Mardi Gras (out of Port Canaveral), Celebration, and Horizon. I went on Mardi Gras 3 weeks ago. My wife, two young kids and me. I sailed a lot as a kid (mostly Carnival but also RC and NCL) so on the MG I went platinum. It helped a lot with the lines for embarkation, guest services and disembarking. However, you’re right on. It’s quite crowded and the elevators are too small. I am booked on the Carnival Madri Gras sailing July 24th from Port Canaveral. It does not show cancelled, but all dates for July taken off the calendar. Any thoughts on whether or not this ship will actually sail as scheduled? I need my vacation! Mardi Gras is a whole different level than their other ships. I would definitely cruise it, the Celebration, or the Jubilee in a heartbeat. I think between these ships and Royal it comes down to if you want a flowrider, ice rink, and water show, or do you want better included food, the roller coaster, and a ropes course. On it as I write this, in a port stop at Cozumel. I’ve been on over 20 Carnival cruises and about 5 Royal Carribean, including Oasis/Allure/Symphony. The Mardis Gras blows them all away, with Oasis ships being very close. The entertainment and food is phenomenal. I personally would return to the Mardi Gras eventually but am looking forward to trying a non-excel class to see if I enjoy them (Horizon next). You can always find a quiet place to be if you want one but the Lido deck is always so overwhelming I spend 0 time there which feels a bit counterintuitive as I do enjoy partying and drinking and that You will only be able to text message to certain countries. I didn't find any ping pong or shuffleboard. We enjoy ping pong, so we were looking for it. We did find putt putt, a pool table, and cornhole. Conclusion- yes the Mardi Gras is a huge ship, really never felt over crowded despite all the people on it. Room design/setup is horrible, reverse couch and bed and would be great. Food as a whole was much improved and plenty to be had even at 12 a.m. and who doesn't like free soft serve ice cream and cookies for late night snack.
