Ship Size. The Mardi Gras is considered a large size ship. Coming in at 1,130 feet long and 137 feet wide, it's roughly the length of 3.1 football fields, as wide as 2.6 tractor-trailers and the same height as a 17-story building. Compared to the Carnival Vista, the Mardi Gras is 35% larger in terms of overall tons. MEET THE CEREMONY. We kick off a new ship’s career with a naming ceremony and ours are one part tradition and a lotta parts fun! On the tradition end, we get dignitaries like Mardi Gras' godmother, Miss Dominican Republic Kimberly Jiménez, and our own Chief Fun Officer Shaq to help make sure the champagne bottle gets broken just right for good luck. 10. Carnival Mardi Gras is a fun, family-oriented cruise ship with something for everyone. While it might sound cliche, Carnival Mardi Gras genuinely has a little something for everyone. The ship was designed to offer the ultimate family cruise vacation with entertainment and activities to appeal to your entire family. Ship Size. The Mardi Gras is considered a large size ship. Compared to the Carnival Horizon, the Mardi Gras is 35% larger in terms of overall tons. It has two unique zones not found on its sister ships: The Gateway, an area dedicated to travel and Carnival's history, and 820 Biscayne which has a retro-Miami vibe. It's 1 year newer than the Mardi Gras, which was built in 2021. The Mardi Gras pays homage to Carnival's first ship, also named the Mardi Gras. So we also contemplated our next cruise between these two ships. We just sailed on the Mardi Gras in January and had a great time booked in a cove balcony for the first time as well. Haven't sailed on the Vista class ships yet, so since they will be in PC (our favorite port) next year, considered the cove balconies on the Vista. Mardi Gras Staterooms. You can count on Mardi Gras to have all the exceptionally comfortable stateroom categories you’ve come to expect on our other ships: from interior, ocean view and balcony staterooms, as well as traditional suites. Choose the stateroom that’s right for you and your crew, whether that’s family, friends, a partner, or Carnival Mardi Gras rooms are more thoughtful in terms of design and storage than other Carnival ships. Unsurprisingly, balcony rooms and Ocean Suites are popular for their views of the sea. The new Mardi Gras ship also has Carnival's signature facilities Serenity (adults-only resort), Alchemy Bar, Fahrenheit 555 Steakhouse. Shipboard dining options - Food and Drinks. Carnival Mardi Gras main dining rooms feature select items from the onboard steakhouse, available for an additional fee. Mardi Gras also has a Lido buffet. Entertainment is comparable to other Carnival ships, though the Grand Central Atrium is a great place to catch a show. There are a lot of people onboard and it is crowded and there are bottlenecks. Make your plans accordingly to avoid peak times. I would highly recommend Mardi Gras. It's my favorite ship. One area where Carnival Mardi Gras shines in comparison to other cruise ships is the number of complimentary dining options onboard. While these are not necessarily the healthiest or fanciest meals, everything onboard Mardi Gras is undeniably delicious - and best of all, almost everywhere you eat is included in the cruise price. Im going on Mardi Gras next February. Really looking forward to it. When we sailed on Mariner of the Seas at the start of the month, Mardi Gras was leaving Port Canaveral at the same time. Everyone in our group was jealous, though mostly because of the roller coaster. The roller coast looks cool, but im not excited about spending $15/ride. The Mardi Gras is 40% larger, and has more dining options if you like options. It also has a more upscale look/feel to it. The rooms on Mardi Gras are nice,looking, but the Magic's rooms are a bit bigger. If you want the latest and greatest, Mardi Gras is the way to go. If you want tried and true, Magic is a safe bet. Yep! One time we went we had 3 balconies next to each other. Only 2 of them could open. The one in the middle and the other one. If they opened ours, it would block our balcony door. Now, we were told that sometimes they can still just remove the whole door, but we never were able to get it done. It wasn't a huge deal though. On the other hand, if peace and quiet are more your speed, look for a cabin far from the bustling onboard activities. Review Ship Maps and Layouts. Before making your decision, take the time to review the Carnival Mardi Gras ship maps and layouts. This can help you locate the perfect cabin for your needs. On the lowest step of the podium is Carnival Celebration, a ship that was launched in 2022. Like other ships in the fleet, she features several themed “zones,” including the Miami-themed 820 Biscayne and the New Orleans-inspired French Quarter. A standout feature of this ship is its extensive range of entertainment options. The Mardi Gras is the first of two “XL-Class” cruise ships, among the largest in the world. It is specially designed for Carnival Cruise Line’s “Fun Ship 2.0” program, which features The Mardi Gras has a construction date of 2020 and a total size of 180,800 gross tons. The ship measures 1,130 feet (344 meters) in length and falls in line as number 3 among the 27 active ships that make up the fleet. Carnival Mardi Gras is included in Carnival’s XL Class. At full capacity, the Carnival Mardi Gras holds 8,375 passengers. The deli is open until 10:00 pm but pizza is open until 4:00 am. There's a late night buffet in Guy's Pig & Anchor (which is where lunch and dinner are served daily). The lunch buffet is inside P&A on Mardi Gras, not on an outside deck like on some other ships. Dinner is table service.
