BOLT: Ultimate Sea Coaster. Plenty of folks come to a Carnival cruise ready to chill, but if it’s a thrill you’re seeking, this is also the vacation for you. Meet BOLT ®: the fastest — and first! — rollercoaster at sea. Strap in and zoom your motorcycle-style speed machine around an open-air course high, high above sea level. Bolt will set cruisers back a steep $15 per person for one lap around the 800-meter track. The ride lasts about 20 seconds at its fastest, but it can take longer, depending on the chosen speed. Currently only Carnival’s newest and largest ships have the Bolt roller coaster. That includes Mardi Gras, where the ride debuted, and Carnival Celebration. Another ship in the class — Carnival Jubilee — debuts in late 2023. It is expected to also have the ride, although that could change. How Long Does The Ride Last? Bolt: Ultimate Sea Coaster is a steel powered coaster located on the Mardi Gras, a cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruse Line. This is the first roller coaster to be built on a cruise ship. [1] History. A car from this powered coaster was revealed by Maurer at the 2019 IAAPA Expo in Orlando, Florida, USA. [2] It began operation on July 31 The Carnival Mardi Gras is built at Meyer Turku Shipyard in Turku, Finland, and has a gross tonnage of 180,000. It features revolutionary new amenities, including the first-ever roller coaster, BOLT, which is the first-ever roller coaster at sea. Unless you've been living under a rock, by now, you've heard that Carnival Cruise Line's biggest, newest ship, Mardi Gras, features a roller coaster that zips along the top deck. There was a whole Carnival Mardi Gras Roller Coaster: A Blast For All. At the Carnival Mardi Gras ship, there is a thrilling roller coaster. There is currently a $15 fee per ride, per person, but that rate may change as the company grows. To ride, you must be less than 300 pounds and have height ranging from 52 inches to 6 feet 5 inches. Carnival's roller coaster is all-electric and allows 2 riders to race along in motorbike-like vehicles at height 57 m (187 ft) above the sea. The experience features breathtaking top-deck 360-degree seaviews and ends with a high-speed turn around ship's funnel (smokestack/chimney). That’s right, there’s a cruise ship with an actual roller coaster on it. It’s called the BOLT roller coaster, and right now, it can only be found on the Carnival Mardi Gras. A second BOLT roller coaster will appear on the Carnival Celebration when it debuts in November 2022 and a third on the Carnival Jubilee in 2023. So what’s BOLT Mardi Gras adds a touch of excitement to Carnival Cruise Line, featuring the first ever roller-coaster on the high seas. Adrenaline junkies are able to whizz around the ship at 40 mph – the course is 244 metres long. The BOLT roller coaster made its debut in 2021 on Carnival Cruise Line's ship, Mardi Gras, becoming the first-ever roller coaster at sea.
