Whether you are 8 or 80, there is always something for you to do. But that doesn't mean a family traveling together always wants to spend every moment together. We pulled several options between RC and Carnival and where they say kids are free On RC, they make up for it in room cost, fees etc. we just did our first RC cruise a couple weeks ago (we've always sailed Carnival) and we actually only booked 4 of the 6 of us and put our other two kids on the in-laws room to make it work room count wise and it still cost us more for only 2 adults To be perfectly honest, the kids club is the main reason our kids choose cruising over the likes of Disneyland, Sea World, San Diego etc etc. I't may be more of the fact that it's an organized social opportunity, rather than the actual activities per sey, as they do spend a lot of time outside of the kids club but it's always socializing with kids they've met at the kids club. Additionally, on select nights themed parties such as “Mardi Gras” and “Beach Bash” are held which do incur an additional $17 per child if they would like to participate. Circle C (Ages 12 Mardi Gras Theater The theater is notably small for a ship this size, seating only 900 people. So if there's something that you really want to see -- we recommend the Family Feud game show -- go The parents and children/teens also get the opportunity to see youth spaces and meet the Youth Staff. Open House starts at the same time as embarkation until the Safety Briefing. Time and place is listed in Carnival's HUB App. Ships may vary due to itineraries. Carnival is also a great line for kids, but their kids clubs are smaller and just have a different vibe. When I cruised with kids my kids loved RCCL, carnival not so much. Mardi Gras is carnival's latest and greatest so your fine in that department, but If you have the opportunity to sail on an Oasis class for the same cost then I would do that. Complimentary cell phones are available to parents/guardians on a case by case basis; priority goes to younger children. The phone is used throughout the voyage, for ship-use only; the range does not extend beyond the ship. There will be a charge to the guest’s Sail & Sign® card if the phone is lost. When was the Carnival Mardi Gras Built? The Carnival Mardi Gras was built in 2020 and joined the cruise line’s XL Class. Carnival includes 27 active ships. The oldest in the fleet was built in 1996 while the newest ship was built in 2023. The average Carnival ship is 17 years old and the median build date for all active ships is 2007 Supervised complimentary programming Kids' Choice begins from port arrival until 12:00pm; At 12:00pm, Kids' Only Lunch is offered, Scheduled activities resume at 1:00pm until 10:00pm, followed by Night Owls. There may be family programming offered in between 4:00pm-6:00pm (time/activity may vary) The Mardi Gras is one of Carnival’s new ships and is a sister ship to the Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee. This class of ships is known as the Excel class. The Excel class is my favorite class or Carnival ships. The Vista class ships are my second favorite. This ship has so many exciting features that the whole family will love but MEET THE CEREMONY. We kick off a new ship’s career with a naming ceremony and ours are one part tradition and a lotta parts fun! On the tradition end, we get dignitaries like Mardi Gras' godmother, Miss Dominican Republic Kimberly Jiménez, and our own Chief Fun Officer Shaq to help make sure the champagne bottle gets broken just right for good luck.
