The Carnival Mardi Gras has a total of 6 pools and 7 hot tubs. 2 of the pools are exclusive access, which means there's either an extra charge to access them or you need to book a certain class of cabin to have access to them. I did like the glass door shower compared to the previous curtain on older Carnival ships, but the bathroom was very narrow on Mardi Gras. Crowds: I think crowd management was better on Oasis vs Mardi Gras. It seemed like every spot of open deck space on Mardi Gras had a bar in it, which limited space and made it difficult to relax. Our remaining winners include 13 more Royal Caribbean ships (of various classes and ages), such as Wonder of the Seas, Adventure of the Seas, and Quantum of the Seas. Since Royal Caribbean is our community members' top-ranked overall best cruise line this year, we are not surprised to see so many of their ships rated among the top 30 best ships it's actually such a shame carnival didn't go forward with their ambitious pinnacle project in the mid-2000s when they had a design that would put their stamp on the industry, well before the oasis class debuted. if only they pushed forward and we all could've maybe had 5-6 Mardi Gras ships The 9/11 attacks definitely set back the industry. The Excel-class ship, Mardi Gras, is a 181,000 gross ton vessel and the sister ship to the latest Carnival Jubilee. These ships can carry 5,374 passengers at double capacity and are 1,130 feet Nothing on Celebration/Mardi Gras compared to it. I see why they have Utopia going back and forth from it every 3/4 days, it's a huge draw. Not sure about the kids part of that either. Mardi Gras is a significantly newer vessel than Oasis of the Seas. Never sailed on Oasis of the Seas, but, I would expect, especially for Mardi Gras' first season, Carnival Cruise Lines will go "all out" to make their guests cruise experience the absolute best that it can possibly be. On the flip side, Carnival Mardi Gras is the second largest vessel in Carnival’s fleet, only coming in second to sister-ship Carnival Celebration. In comparison, Mardi Gras is smaller than Harmony of the Seas, weighing 180,000 gross tons and holding 5,500 passengers at full capacity. The Carnival Mardi Gras has 5 fewer bars than the Royal Caribbean Allure of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Havana Bar, Punchliner Comedy Club and RedFrog Tiki Bar.
