I have been on both the Celebration and the Mardi Gras. They are basically identical minus some of the theme areas. The Mardi Gras has a New Orleans/Mardi Gras theme while the Celebration is Miami/Art Deco. The biggest difference in venues is two of the bars on deck six. They have different themes and drinks on the two ships. Kids were more on Celebration, but that I believe was just time frame as it was a July cruise vs a Mardi Gras late September. I liked the Port Canaveral overall experience much better than Miami. he Bolt was effectively down the entire cruise on Celebration (saw it run a handful of time), Mardi Gras was operational the entire cruise Went Celebrate in Jan and just got off Mardi Gras yesterday and there aren’t much difference. Food are pretty much the same each day (eg. street foods are always BBQ pork bun and Pad Thai for day 1). Shows are similar but Mardi Gras shows have a magician for intros (but he’s kinda lame). Just a bit of trivia. The 1397 for Emeril's Bistro stands for the 'Yard Number' at the Meyer Turku Shipyard where the Celebration is being built. Same for the Mardi Gras Emeril's Bistro 1396. When Mardi Gras was being constructed at Meyer Turku, the ship was in Yard Number 1396. You can see Meyer Turku ships & yard #'s here: I've narrowed our choices down to Celebration and Mardi Gras based on my casino offers. I've had better experiences sailing from Canaveral (Mardi Gras) vs. Miami (Celebration) but feel like Celebration might be the better ship? I haven't sailed on anything bigger than Breeze on Carnival and am not very familiar with pros and cons of the newer The Mardi Gras has the same number of dining venues. Some of its popular venues are Street Eats, Bonsai Sushi, and Piazza Panini. nineteen of these restaurants are complementary and the other nine have an additional fee. The Carnival Celebration has about the same number of dining options as the Carnival Mardi Gras. Emeril's on Celebration has more and nicer seating, menu is the same. I like the specialty bar menus (Latitudes and Golden Jubilee) on Celebration a tiny bit better than two of them on Mardi Gras (Brass Magnolia and Fortune Teller). I'm booked on the Celebration this Sunday and sailed on the Mardi Gras last January. From the looks of it, they are identical except for some minor tweaks. Decorating and the switcheroo of Emeril's and the bar next to it. Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are the newest and biggest ships in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet. Both Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are in the Excel class, with Carnival Jubilee joining them in December 2023.Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras offer more fun than ever before; after all, that is part of their brand! The Excel class of ships are 40% larger than all the other We were on the Mardi Gras last January for eight days. We were on the Celebration this past December for 16 days. We are booked for the Mardi Gras for three weeks this coming September. Both ships are marvelous. The entertainment on both was the best I've ever seen on Carnival. I've sailed all the Oasis class, and visited Mardi Gras twice (but haven't sailed her yet). Maybe it's b/c of how much I've sailed Oasis class, but Mardi Gras is more exciting to me. I love the "many small venues vs a few large ones" approach. Lots of variety, really innovative design, and Carnival definitely doing some very different things. 7 day Mardi Gras (Cozumel, Costa Maya, Mahogany Bay) Right now Mardi Gras is at the bottom because we have already been to Cozumel and Costa Maya. The Celebration has a balcony room for almost the same price as an inside room on the Horizon but of course you don’t get the extra day. Is the Celebration a much better ship than the horizon? Overall, I don't know if your experience will be much different on Mardi Gras. The layout is totally different, but it's the same kind of experience overall. It'd be different if you were talking about Carnival's older ships for booze cruises, but the Vista should provide similar levels of service, options, and class as the Mardi Gras. Well, the Mardi Gras and the Celebration are the largest ships in the fleet. We cruised the Celebration on a full ship in August. We learned the first show night that we need to get to Center Stage early for a seat. So we adjusted that for the future and it worked out. We had no trouble playing trivia, karaoke, and piano bar sing alongs. Mardi Gras and her sister Celebration have a few more free food options than every ship older than them. Both companies ships usually have free slides and flowrider surfing. Many of Royal ships also have things like zip lines, laser tag, bumper cars, carousel, ice skating for free as well as a couple of options that are free some days and paid Water slides on both ships were great. Wonder has 3 "main" pools in the middle area, and the adult only area in the very front of the ship is leaps and bounds ahead of Celebration/Mardi Gras. Without knowing what itineraries you're looking at, I will say Royal's island (Coco Cay) is amazing. Nothing on Celebration/Mardi Gras compared to it. The Mardi Gras/Celebration/Jubilee will have more, and better, fast-casual food options (breakfast and lunch). Guy's Burgers and Shaq's Big Chicken are amazing. Dinner in the main dining room honestly never felt too different to me between the lines (both can have hits and misses depending on the night/sailing). Carnival Vista has a 6 day itinerary to Half Moon Cay, Grand Turk, and Amber Cove. Never been to any of these places but I’m interested. Carnival Celebration has a 7 day itinerary of Amber Cove, San Juan, and St Maarten. I’ve been to San Juan but not the other ports. I went on the Mardi Gras Last year and my wife has been on the Wonder of the Seas and the Mardi Gras. They're different experiences (from what my wife said). The Wonder of the Seas is a boat about the big stuff. big shows, big dinners, big crowds. The Mardi Gras is set up to be a lot more like cruising a downtown at night. We just finished a cruise on the Mardi Gras and I have some questions. It had been a few years since I had cruised Carnival and there were some changes or issues that I am wondering if it is just this boat or the cruise line. Being a Gold, almost Platinum, VIFP I typically am used to things.
