The Carnival Mardi Gras has a total of 6 pools and 7 hot tubs. 2 of the pools are exclusive access, which means there's either an extra charge to access them or you need to book a certain class of cabin to have access to them. Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas has fewer pools than the Mardi Gras and more hot tubs. How does the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas compare to the Carnival Mardi Gras? The Oasis of the Seas was built in 2009. It was renovated in 2024. It is 12 years older than the Mardi Gras, which was built in 2021. See all the differences in terms of size, facilities, and dining options. Mardi Gras definitely has the better itinerary, but I would personally pick the Oasis over the Mardi Gras in terms of the ship itself. As a disclaimer, I've only been on one of the Oasis' sister ships, the Symphony of the Seas, and haven't been on the new Carnival ships. The itinerary of Mardi Gras is more appealing to me. Mardi Gras is a significantly newer vessel than Oasis of the Seas. Never sailed on Oasis of the Seas, but, I would expect, especially for Mardi Gras' first season, Carnival Cruise Lines will go "all out" to make their guests cruise experience the absolute best that it can possibly be. The flow rider, climbing wall, and zip line on Oasis are cool, but the waterpark on Carnival is large and the ropes course is daring (has a zip line portion built in). I also prefer the setup of the Carnival ships better when it comes to the ocean. On most Oasis-class ships, it doesn't feel like you're on the ocean. There's very little ocean views. Carnival Celebration, Jubilee, and Mardi Gras, Carnival’s largest ships, have a gross tonnage of 183,000, or about 75% of the size of Royal’s largest ship. And this is just one example. When it comes to size, Royal Caribbean ships definitely have an edge. Of course, with larger ships you can pack a lot more onto the vessel. Royal Caribbean debuted its Oasis-class of cruise ships in 2009, much to the excitement of the cruise industry. There was no other ship that could compare to the innovative Oasis of the Seas at the time. From the ship’s design and sheer size to the first-of-its-kind entertainment, Oasis of the Seas was the best of the best. But what I mean is that the gap has closed a lot. Carnival has changed more than RC has changed since Oasis came out. Maybe in 2008 Carnival's newest ship was 5/10 whereas Oasis was 9/10. But today Celebration/RG is probably 7.5 or 8/10 and Wonder . . . really hasn't changed at 9/10. For many people, it's close enough to warrant consideration. Oasis was by far not my favorite cruise, but the ship was a marvel of ingenuity, we will try the Mardi Gras and see if the largeness will bring the same result for us as well. Op, no one knows what the Mardi Gras will even be like yet, so until specific details come out, you will have to base your decision on the known (Oasis) and the unknown. We are thinking about a Celebration cruise. I saw the ship size, which is significantly smaller than the oasis class of Royal Caribbean and yet, the passenger capacity is about the same. Now my question to those, who have sailed on both classes of ships: Is the Celebration/Mardi Gras very cramped? The Carnival Mardi Gras has 4 fewer bars than the Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Fortune Teller Bar, Grand View and Havana Bar. On Mardi Gras, you can grab a drink at 20 different bars such as English Pub, The Lime & Coconut and The Mason Jar. Hello everybody, Sorry if this question has been asked before. We are thinking about a Celebration cruise. I saw the ship size, which is significantly smaller than the oasis class of Royal Caribbean and yet, the passenger capacity is about the same. Now my question to those, who have sailed on bo The Carnival Mardi Gras has 3 fewer bars than the Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Fahrenheit 555 Bar, Piano Bar 88 and The Watering Hole. On Mardi Gras, you can grab a drink at 19 different bars such as Giovanni's Wine Bar, The Attic and Trellis Bar. On the flip side, Carnival Mardi Gras is the second largest vessel in Carnival’s fleet, only coming in second to sister-ship Carnival Celebration. In comparison, Mardi Gras is smaller than Harmony of the Seas, weighing 180,000 gross tons and holding 5,500 passengers at full capacity. How does the Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas compare to the Carnival Mardi Gras? The Odyssey of the Seas was built in 2021. The Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas was built in 2021. See all the differences in terms of size, facilities, and dining options. Icon of the Seas is the first in a whole new class of ships by Royal Caribbean that's designed to provide the "ultimate family vacation." It is currently the largest cruise ship in the world. It's 3 years newer than the Mardi Gras, which was built in 2021. The Mardi Gras pays homage to Carnival's first ship, also named the Mardi Gras. This wasn’t my first time on an Oasis-class ship, as I’ve also sailed on sister-ship Allure of the Seas. Later in the year, I sailed on Carnival Celebration during its inaugural debut in North America. The ship blew me away so much that I decided to set sail on sister-ship Carnival Mardi Gras just a few weeks ago. I've sailed all the Oasis class, and visited Mardi Gras twice (but haven't sailed her yet). Maybe it's b/c of how much I've sailed Oasis class, but Mardi Gras is more exciting to me. I love the "many small venues vs a few large ones" approach. Lots of variety, really innovative design, and Carnival definitely doing some very different things. The Carnival Mardi Gras has 4 fewer bars than the Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas. The Mardi Gras has 16 bars like Fahrenheit 555 Bar, Grand View and Serenity Pool Bar. On Mardi Gras, you can grab a drink at 20 different bars such as English Pub, Sand Bar and Suite Sun Deck Bar. It depends which Oasis class ship I would think, pretty sure Madri Gras is new and pretty huge so would probably be better than Oasis or Allure (I think those are the oldest and non-amped ones, respectively) but Wonder, the newest, is probably better than MG
