Both are big, Water slides on both ships were great. Wonder has 3 "main" pools in the middle area, and the adult only area in the very front of the ship is leaps and bounds ahead of Celebration/Mardi Gras. Without knowing what itineraries you're looking at, I will say Royal's island (Coco Cay) is amazing. Nothing on Celebration/Mardi Gras compared to it. One thing I dislike about Wonder of the Seas and other oasis class ships are you really feel separated from the ocean. It can feel a little bit more like a hotel or a mall than a cruise ship sometimes. The Mardi Gras does a much better job of having spots that highlight the water with the lower promenade and other venues. From end to end, the Carnival Mardi Gras length equals 1,130 feet (344 meters). Compare that to the average ship length of all 27 active vessels in Carnival fleet, measuring 985 feet (300 meters). Be ready for crowds on both ships. If your younger and like a lot of action I would pick the Mardi Gras. The Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas has 3 more bars than the Carnival Celebration. I haven't been on any of the Carnival ships so cannot comment on what they are like. I recently got off the Wonder of the Seas though and I am confident if you chose an Oasis class ship for your cruise you and the kids wont be disappointed. Loads to do for kids and adults alike.
