The Carnival Mardi Gras has a total of 6 pools and 7 hot tubs. 2 of the pools are exclusive access, which means there's either an extra charge to access them or you need to book a certain class of cabin to have access to them. Carnival Panorama has fewer pools than the Mardi Gras and fewer hot tubs. The Mardi Gras has 2 more dining venues. Some of its popular venues are Guys Pig and Anchor Smokehouse (Excel-ship), Blue Iguana Cantina, and Bonsai Sushi. 19 of these restaurants are complementary and the other 8 have an additional fee. The Carnival Panorama has about the same number of dining options as the Carnival Mardi Gras. Looking at the Deck Plans for the Mardi Gras, the Havana area is totally different than the Havana area on the Vista, Horizon and Panorama. On these ships the Havana area is aft with a pool, 2 hot tubs and a bar. On the Mardi Gras deck plans shows the Havana area is forward and just 1 pool, no hot tubs and a small bar. Rooms on Mardi Gras on the whole are smaller than Panorama. 150 sq ft on Mardi Gras and 180 sq ft on Panorama. Elevators are faster on Panorama, and the steakhouse is better too. Mardi Gras is huge compared to the already large Panorama. Panorama has Joey Boyes, one of Carnival's best Cruise directors. Carnival Jubilee, Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are the ships with the best collection of water slides, including Blue Lightning (312 feet), Orange Thunder (229 feet) and Carnival Twister (265 feet). The best individual waterslide is Kaleid-O-Slide (445 feet) on Carnival Panorama. We've cruised on the Panorama and have a cruise booked in August on the Mardi Gras. Between the two, I would choose the Mardi Gras. Based on the pictures, the atrium area and theater on the Mardi Gras look so much better. Plus, there seems to be a lot more options on the Mardi Gras.
