Support is also provided in part by the Gulf Coast Carnival Association, a local krewe, as well as the Mississippi Arts Commission, a state agency. Coastal Mississippi Mardi Gras Museum executive director Abreeza Thomas explains Mardi Gras dates back to ancient times overseas. The museum was founded on the Coast in the late 80s. This museum house is authentic outfits from multiple years of Mardi Gras celebrations, as well as other Mardi Gras paraphernalia. There is also a 30 minute Educational video which I unfortunately ran out of time to see as I had it to go order waiting to pick up. Tammy Smith gave me the nicest tour while visiting.
