I loved our stay in this cabin grade (7C) and would choose it again. Starting to plan a B2B next winter 2022 and looking for a cove balcony in a quiet area as my husband is a very light sleeper and noise can be a problem. We just got off the Mardi Gras on Saturday and had a cove balcony. This was my second time on the Mardi Gras and the first time we were on deck 12. I felt the cove balcony location was way better for us, plus the clear balcony is amazing. I would rebook in cove in a heartbeat! The Excel-class ships (Mardi Gras, Carnival Celebration and Carnival Jubilee) also have some Cloud 9 Spa Cove Balcony rooms. These category 7S rooms are located near to the spa and come with a pass for unlimited use of the thermal suite facilities and some other perks . I've gone through as many reviews as I can find, looked at the drone footage I've decided to go ahead and risk it. As near as I can tell, there IS a private / shaded portion the same size as a normal balcony - the exposed portion is all 'extra' space. For my cruise, the cost literally doubles for me to get a large shaded / private balcony. 5235 has not the best position for a cove balcony due to the lifeboat above, but this is expected for this type of balconies. I like the idea of being right by the water and having some shade on the balcony.
