The king and queen of Mardi Gras are chosen each year by a panel of judges from the Krewe of Rex, the oldest and most prestigious Mardi Gras krewe in New Orleans. The Rex Organization selects a theme for the Mardi Gras season, and the king and queen’s costumes and float designs are based on that theme. A display of her gowns is housed in the Germaine Wells Mardi Gras Museum on the second floor of Arnaud’s.
