The line of t-storms will be capable of producing all forms of severe weather. The weekend before is Mardi Gras lite, basically without the tourist crowds. As you can see from the schedule posted, that whole weekend will be parades basically starting at 11 am on the Uptown route and rolling all day (with crowds arriving several hours before that).
