The Carnival Mardi Gras has the same number of pools as the Jubilee and the same number of hot tubs. Looking to get away from the kids onboard? Try relaxing in the Serenity Adult-only area, for guests 21 and older only. Both the Jubilee and the Mardi Gras have full-depth adult-only pools in the Serenity area. Carnival Mardi Gras holds about the same number of passengers as the Jubilee based on double occupancy (two people per room). When you look at the "Space Ratio," or tons of ship compared to number of passengers, the Mardi Gras has the same amount of space per person as the Jubilee. The newest ship in the fleet (in terms of when she was built), Carnival Jubilee was top of the rankings in 2024, but she’s had a bit of a dip in 2025. Along with her sisters in the Excel Class (Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration), Carnival Jubilee is the biggest ship in the Carnival fleet. Bottom: Fortune Teller bar on Mardi Gras) Similarly, Carnival Jubilee debuted the brand-new Marina Bar in The Shores zone, serving up seaside cocktails and specialty coffees. On the other hand, Carnival Celebration’s bar is known as the Cuban-themed Bar 820 while Mardi Gras’s Bar Della Rosa is designed after a classic Italian cafe. After sailing on Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras, I had high expectations for Carnival Jubilee. Perhaps I set the bar too high, but I found Carnival Jubilee fell short of my expectations more than I expected. Perhaps the spring break crowd skewed my experience, but all of Carnival Jubilee’s lines, crowds, and wait times were a massive drag. The Mardi Gras/Celebration/Jubilee will have more, and better, fast-casual food options (breakfast and lunch). Guy's Burgers and Shaq's Big Chicken are amazing. Dinner in the main dining room honestly never felt too different to me between the lines (both can have hits and misses depending on the night/sailing). (Ocean suite on Mardi Gras) Between the two balconies, I would choose the cove balcony on Carnival Jubilee any day. I hated feeling like I was on display for the whole ship to see on our extended balcony while cruising on Mardi Gras. Even better, the cove balcony was cheaper! A cruise ship balcony is meant to be a private, quiet, and peaceful On the Jubilee we didn’t make any reservations because we were too late and they booked up but I have eaten on the other Excel ships. I think Rudi’s Seagrill is worth a visit. The food (on the Mardi Gras at least) was excellent and the plating and service is a lot of fun. Teppanyaki is another great stop if you’re into Japanese steak houses. Did Mardi Gras last year and this year Jubilee. Same ship minus a few different bar placements. I liked Dr Inks better then Fortune Teller. Wasn’t a fan of leaving from Galvestons vs Florida. Weather was terrible first 36 hours. I did hear Florida wasn’t great either so maybe it was just a cold stretch everywhere. Food was good. Service was Mardi Gras and Celebration are sister ships.. Layout is nearly identical with a few twists here and there to accommodate some flow improvements or design updates. To distinguish any of them in any real way that would matter to your cruise enjoyment would be difficult at best. Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are the newest and biggest ships in Carnival Cruise Line’s fleet. Both Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras are in the Excel class, with Carnival Jubilee joining them in December 2023.Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras offer more fun than ever before; after all, that is part of their brand! The Excel class of ships are 40% larger than all the other The Carnival Jubilee is a fairly new ship, being built in 2023. The Jubilee is Carnival's newest ship. It's named after the original Jubilee that sailed with Carnival from 1986 - 2004. It has two unique zones not found on its sister ships, The Shores, a beach-themed area, and Currents which explores the depths of the ocean. I have been on both the Celebration and the Mardi Gras. They are basically identical minus some of the theme areas. The Mardi Gras has a New Orleans/Mardi Gras theme while the Celebration is Miami/Art Deco. The biggest difference in venues is two of the bars on deck six. They have different themes and drinks on the two ships. It has two unique zones not found on its sister ships: The Gateway, an area dedicated to travel and Carnival's history, and 820 Biscayne which has a retro-Miami vibe. It's 1 year newer than the Mardi Gras, which was built in 2021. The Mardi Gras pays homage to Carnival's first ship, also named the Mardi Gras. I've cruised both ships plus the two newer Carnival LNG ships, Celebration and Jubilee, and several other Carnival ships. Both ships are nice although the Mardi Gras being a good bit larger has more entertainment, more bars, more food options, and larger crowds. Very similar layouts (venues have different names) to Celebration and Mardi Gras (all excel class sister ships). If you google the same cabin type for Celebration or even MG (oldest of the 3 excel ships) , you will get not only pix and video links for the other 2 ships but reviews that could help you with your question for excel class ships. The Carnival Mardi Gras was built in 2021. The Mardi Gras pays homage to Carnival's first ship, also named the Mardi Gras. It has two unique zones not found on its sister ships: The French Quarter, a New Orleans-themed area, and La Piazza, which is dedicated to the Italian heritage of Carnival cabins. The only Carnival cruise i've been on is the Mardi Gras in March of this year. my kids mama. Posted November 28, 2023. Celebration vs. Jubilee Christmas 2024 Number of Passengers. Norwegian Prima holds 41% fewer passengers than the Mardi Gras based on double occupancy (two people per room). When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, or what we call the "Space Ratio," the Prima has more space per person compared to the Mardi Gras. This mean Comparatively, Mardi Gras has 20+ complimentary eateries onboard - and they’re all pretty dang delicious. We ran out of time to try every option onboard, although we did try our best. Mardi Gras has Carnival’s signature dining options, such as Guy Fieri’s restaurants Guy’s Burger Joint and Pig & Anchor BBQ Smokehouse.
