There is never a shortage of things to do in New Orleans with kids, but Mardi Gras takes the (king) cake! It’s time to bust out the green, purple and gold! Kid-Friendly Mardi Gras Parades for 2025. Krewe of Little Rascals (February 16, 2025): A family-friendly parade with child riders and fun themes. Family Gras is a FREE celebration of Carnival and family that takes place two weekends before Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras Day), and is located just ten minutes from downtown New Orleans in the suburb of Metairie. It takes place on Veterans Memorial Boulevard, across from Lakeside Shopping Center. This year, Family Gras will take place at Mardi Gras Plaza, in the 3300 block of Veterans Memorial Boulevard across from Lakeside Shopping Center. The festivities are scheduled for February 21, 22 & 23 with free outdoor concerts. Mardi Gras in Southwest Louisiana is a family-friendly festival and even has an entire day devoted to kids.
