Founded in 1977 on the West Bank, the co-ed Krewe of King Arthur now parades on the New Orleans Uptown route. With 2,400+ members and 70+ floats, they are the largest parade on the first weekend of Carnival (known as “Family Sunday”) and the 7th largest Mardi Gras parade overall. Krewe of King Arthur is one of the largest co-ed Mardi Gras krewes in New Orleans. The krewe makes their own floats and costumes by hand, tosses signature hand-decorated grails, and is open to In 2001, King Arthur moved its parade from the Westbank to the current Uptown New Orleans route. In 2022, King Arthur made history with its largest membership ever, at over 2,400 riders. According to Mardi Gras Guide, it is the third largest krewe in New Orleans and the largest Krewe on the first weekend of Mardi Gras Krewe of King Arthur. The theme for the Krewe of King Arthur’s parade is “Carnival Gods of the Past 50 Years." Throws will include their signature hand-made grails, Merlin and knight plushes and so much more. The parade features the diversity of the Camelot Nation with over 1,900 knights riding on 63 floats.
