Tuesday, March 4 – Papa Red Dog Mardi Gras Parade – Main Street, Loreauville. 2 Tuesday, March 4 – Le Festival de Mardi Gras à Lafayette – Cajun Field, Lafayette. Carnival rides and 1:00 p.m. – Lafayette Mardi Gras Festival Parade; 2:00 p.m. – Independent Parade; Mardi Gras Day Street Closures. All streets in and around the parade route will close one hour before the start of the first parade and remain closed until the final parade has concluded and the area is cleared of pedestrians and vehicles. Crossover Intersections Lafayette's Krewe Des Chien Mardi Gras dog parade, one of the area's favorites, will be getting an earlier start to hopefully beat the rain. Because of the expected stormy weather, the parade scheduled for Saturday, February 3 has been moved from noon to 10:00 am, according to organizers. Dog parades are quite busy and distracting Cue this list, my favorite Lafayette Mardi Gras parades to attend with our boys (all 3 and under): Krewe de Canailles– This is a walking parade with no barricades, and home-made throws. It is hands down my favorite parade because the creativity of our community is on full display with love and joy for this season.
