Hotel Mazarin, would be my vote. I do not like to be on the other side of Canal during Mardi Gras. So much going on in the quarter. But that is just me. I do not like parades that much. Prefer people watching. But if you plan on watching parades mostly then Sheraton. Hi everyone. Me and my sister are planning on coming to New Orleans next year during Mardi Gras, probably the Friday before-Wednesday after. Looking for nice (can be luxury but not necessarily) hotels to stay in where we’ll be in the middle of the action. Never been to NOLA so open to all suggestions. Thanks in advance xx Opinions on Mardi Gras Hotel My friend and I are gonna be at an upcoming festival. They had booked The Mardi Gras Hotel awhile ago since it was cheap and close proximity to the festival grounds. With kids, I love the warehouse district. You can catch the parades close by near St. Charles/Julia St. The crowd is pretty thin & family friendly. One option is the convention center Hampton, or, try other hotels in the vicinity. Hotels uptiwn along St. Charles are a good option, too. My kids adore Mardi Gras - you'll have a blast! The weekend before Mardi Gras all the action is on this route, but Lundi and Mardi Gras most of the action is downtown. Go to mardi gras and catch the good stuff, see the magnificent floats, and enjoy some red beans at fat Harry's. Or you can always stay at New Orleans RV Resort & Marina.Limited sites are still available during Mardi Gras season. Plus, the BC Boys Band will take to the stage at The Lighthouse Bar & Grill on February 13th, between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Come join in the fun and try their Mardi Gras Specials, including the King Cake Daiquiri, the Mardi Gras Mix-up and King Cake. If money and availability were not issues, as relates to private hotel room balconies (some hotel balconies are actually communal with adjoining rooms), a second floor Bourbon St facing balcony room at Sheraton Four Points French Quarter (formerly Inn on Bourbon) would best capture the mayhem and chaos. Bring earplugs if you want to sleep. If you are looking to save money, take a look at Downtown/Fremont hotels as has been suggested. (4 Queens has no resort fee). If you don't mind being off Strip, take a look at places like Orleans and Gold Coast that offer good value. There are many other better choices than the Mardi Gras. Be careful where you park. You can, and will, get towed if in the wrong spot. Use the lots or parking garage. Many a street parked car has been sideswiped by a drunk driver. A hotel downtown is either unavailable or insanely expensive during Mardi Gras. Uber if need be. Use the bathroom before you go. Posted by u/Al89nut - 2 votes and 4 comments Hi! I'm going to Mardi Gras for the first time and I was wondering if any of you know of good hotels where I can see parades from the balcony! I'm Welcome to Carnival, also known as Mardi Gras. For 2024, Carnival runs from January 6th to February 13th. What, when, and where are the parades? Parades are at the heart of the Mardi Gras experience. Riders and marchers pay handsomely to produce a huge-ass party on wheels, and you’re invited- for free! Mardi Gras great for kids, Bourbon Street is not. I can understand how a tourist/outside like yourself can think Mardi Gras and The French Quarter/Bourbon Street are one in the same, but the reality is you can experience everything Mardi Gras has to offer and be miles away from the French Quarter. Please, come, bring the fam, have a great time. Don’t plan on vacationing in New Orleans during Mardi Gras unless you are coming specifically for Mardi Gras. Mardi Gras is also the worst time to experience the "real New Orleans" as the entire city is centered around the parades. Most restaurants and attractions will be closed and there will be insanely long wait times for the ones that are There are a number of hotels and rental condos on and surrounding the St. Charles parade route. If you research the parade routes, you will be able to use it as a guide while mapping your hotel or condo rental. Probably best if you stay in the Downtown area between the Pontchartrain Expressway and Canal St. on or within a block of St. Charles Ave. We’re staying at the Blake Hotel and plan to buy the hotel’s viewing stand tickets for Thurs PM, Fri PM, and Sat all day. My main questions, mostly involving transportation and food: We’re missing the Sunday parades but I assume Th/Fri/Sat is a healthy enough dose for newbies to Mardi Gras. That being said, the Mardi Gras is absolutely massive and there is something to keep your attention almost 24 hours a day. The balcony cabins are much narrower than they are on older ships from the minute you open the cabin door to the balcony itself, but if you haven't sailed Carnival before you will not notice it. Excalibur is already kinda cheap and on the strip. Strat hotel is even cheaper, and nicer!!! I'm going in for the rock and roll band playing at the Sphere. My final option is the Mardi Gras hotel, which is a 20 minute walk from the Sphere. Close, but it looks super dingy.
