Bosom Buddies and Breast Friends – Since 2013, this 70-member troupe has walked through the French Quarter on the Friday before Mardi Gras in bras, tutus, wigs and hats. It takes many more groups to make it all come together, including marching bands, flambeauxs, and, of course, marching groups. Mitchell Mardi Gras Award Honoree Parade Following the George P. Mitchell Mardi Gras Award Presentation, this is the first parade to Kick Off Mardi Gras Galveston 2025! This parade is packed with marching bands, dancing squads & tons of energy. Parades and festivals dot the weekends leading up to the final weekend where there are parades every night from Wednesday before Mardi Gras all the way up through Tuesday. As New Orleans's only collegiate marching band, the TUMB has participated in parades such as Le Krewe d'Etat, the Krewe of Thoth, the Krewe of Pygmalion, the Krewe of Bacchus Mardi Gras Parade Bands is a 3rd generation family business. Begun by Professor Harry Mendelson, Sr, the organization is deeply rooted in the creation and growth of the New Orleans Mardi Gras tradition. Professor Mendelson, a musician by training and profession, helped create numerous parades in the New Orleans area. Naturally, he worked to recruit bands, marching units and more to participate Marching bands performing in New Orleans during the 2025 Mardi Gras / Carnival season. The 147 member WU band, under the direction of Dr. Virgil Goodwine, will perform in New Orleans beginning Saturday, February 18th.
