Officials say 17-year-old Kip Lewis, of Elysian Fields, Texas, was shot on the 2200 block of Clyde Fant Pkwy around 5:45 p.m. The second shooting that occurred along Clyde Fant Parkway during the Krewe of Gemini Mardi Gras parade Saturday, February 18, 2023, happened on Odom Street. Shreveport Police responded at 6:15 pm, finding a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was transferred to a local hospital and is expected to recover. According to Shreveport city leaders, Shreveport police are investigating two shootings that happened while the parade was going on. It happened on Oden Street and Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway Service Road near the Magnolia School of Excellence. At 5:45 p.m., police responded to a shooting in the 2200 block of Clyde Fant Memorial Parkway. Just after 5:45 p.m. Shreveport police and fire were dispatched to the 2200 block of Clyde Fant on reports of shooting. Upon arrival, first responders discovered Kip Lewis, 17, of Marshall, Texas Lewis was shot at the Krewe of Gemini Parade in Shreveport. Kip was shot near the Krewe of Gemini Mardi Gras parade route on the 2200 block of Clyde Fant Pkwy in Shreveport around 5:45 p.m. The Caddo Parish Coroner says he died of his wounds at Ochsner LSU Health Hospital less than an hour later.
