Mardi Gras celebrations, head to the Wharf for a taste of New Orleans. The parade is kicking off at Blair Alley at 3:30pm near Shake Shack. What is Washington Mardi Gras? Washington Mardi Gras began in the 1940s as a party for homesick congressional staffers from Louisiana. It has since blossomed into a multi-day event that culminates Mardi Gras at Dauphine’s 2025: Step into a slice of New Orleans at Dauphine’s, located at 1100 15th St NW, Washington, DC, where Mardi Gras comes to life on March 1 from 6:30 pm to 11:00 pm. Revel in an evening of live entertainment, open bars, and a feast of King Cakes and beignets. Southwest DC’s Wharf will bring back its annual Mardi Gras parade and day-long party, complete with stilt walkers, a brass band performance on the pier, and fireworks right after sundown. Before Mardi Gras: St. Vincent Wine kicks off celebrations with a Lundi Gras bash on Monday, March 3, starting at 5 p.m. A $20 ticket includes a welcome Hurricane, raffle entry, Mardi Gras beads, and enjoying live music by jazz band Joe Brotherton Trio.
