Starting January 6 (Twelfth Night), New Orleans has parades in the weeks leading up to Mardi Gras Day, which falls on March 4, 2025. Take a look at the parades below and click on each to learn more. The celebrations kick off Saturday night with colorful floats and more from the Krewe of Mardi Gras. The season, which represents a time of celebration before Christian Lent, lasts until Fat Tuesday. The first major parade weekend of Carnival 2022 kicked off Friday Mardi Gras comes to Riverside with Castle Park’s unique take on New Orleans’ favorite festival. With a run time of 45 minutes to 1 hour, this short-and-sweet event boasts krewes of all kinds: music, dance, performance, floats, walkers, skaters, cyclists, humans and squirrels. This year’s theme is “Squirrels on Film.” You should also note that there are no Mardi Gras parades on the weekend of February 7 – 9, 2025, due to New Orleans hosting Super Bowl LIX.
