Mardi Gras Bead Recycling Audubon Zoo January 16, 2025 Audubon Nature Institute is committed to keeping Mardi Gras beads out of landfills and away from nature. Bring your Mardi Gras beads to be recycled responsibly at the Front Entrance of Audubon Zoo. This interactive mega-recycling station offers an exclusive look at how Mardi Gras waste—beads, cans, and glass—is being sorted and diverted from landfills in real time. Media will have access to program organizers and special guests to discuss the impact of Mardi Gras recycling efforts so far. The French Quarter Management District (FQMD) will provide 15 hotels in the French Quarter and Downtown with free bead recycling service this Mardi Gras. The recycling program, now in its second year, will be facilitated by Glass Half Full (www.glasshalffull.co). For the third year in a row, the New Orleans Office of Resilience and Sustainability is working hard to make Mardi Gras greener and more sustainable with their “Recycle Dat” program.
