The band is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The band formed in 1986 at Texas Instruments. The majority of band members have STEM based degrees and careers (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). The band is under the musical direction of Bill Centera. He received his degree in Jazz Studies at the University of North Texas and was a member of the renowned North Texas State One O’Clock Lab Band.
