The float is roughly 15 feet wide and 40 feet long, holding 28 people. We will probably play all of our music from an ipod, but I would like a system that is loud enough for the float members and for the crowd to hear. (It doesn't have to overpower the crowd or anything, though.) The speakers need to be mountable, and the float runs on a Maybe instead of blasting music from speakers, they could have marching bands and people could yell "throw me something" and actually be heard by the people on the float. You know, kind of the whole "Mardi Gras parade" concept. Last January I posted a question relative to this and a Mardi Gras float and was seriously warned agist it. Maybe because I was talking about much more power. But, everyone seemed very concerned and heavily cautioned me of the problems that could occur. Doubtful that two good MI grade active speakers won't be loud enough 20 feet away. Anyone with the least bit of experience in planning won't put two musical floats sequentially so the ambient noise would probably be less than at a beer festival concert band stage where one powered cab each side is often enough..
