IW Mardi Gras 2025 - Our Folktastic Isle - The Wheel of the Year. The 2025 IW Mardi Gras will be taking place on Saturday 5th July in Ryde! The theme for this year’s parade has been announced as ‘The Wheel of the Year’ as part of a two year ‘Our Folk-tastic Isle’ project. On Tuesday, January 21st, New Carnival hosted the much-anticipated launch of this year’s Isle of Wight Mardi Gras at Quay Arts. With over 40 attendees, including local school teachers, community leaders, freelance artists, and representatives from fellow arts organizations, the evening was an inspiring kick-off to a truly unique event. ‘Our Folktastic Isle – the Wheel of the Year’ has been revealed as the theme for this year’s Isle of Wight Mardi Gras, which will take place this July. A children, young people and community focused parade with no fossil fuelled vehicles. 2024's theme is the 'Story of Carnival'. For Mardi Gras and Ryde Carnival, we partnered with the Isle of Wight’s Indonesian Community to explore the art and symbolism of batik festivals, then sharing this knowledge with a local community group. We were also treated to sample incredible Indonesian food! The new national trail coast path is set to be the longest continuous coastal path in the world, stretching some 2,800 miles.
