At the core of Krewe Mystique’s rich heritage is the special bond established between our members, developing into friendships that last a life time. kING cAKE pARTY An annual tradition, the executive members of Krewe Mystique put on their chef coats to throw a huge party serving delicious food and the best King Cake in the city. Mardi Gras balls were exclusive events closed off from most people outside of New Orleans society until this krewe revolutionized the event. In 1949, Edward Brennan Sr. created the krewe, a carnival Ball open to tourists. There will be 20 floats including the title float and the maids in the court. A new signature throw for Excalibur will be an 8-inch hand-decorated Dragon Egg and hand-decorated wooden shields. Excalibur rolls February 21 at 7 p.m. during Family Gras. Krewe of Paws. In 1935 a select group of noble gentlemen, many of whom were Captains of their own Mardi Gras clubs, sought to present an Elite Court and spirited Krewe of Merry Revelers to the city of New Orleans. The Mystic Krewe of Aquarius follows the Mardi Gras tradition of having a ceremonial Royal Court. The Court, headed by a King and Queen, represent the Krewe at many events, including the Epiphany Party, the Pardi Gras Grand Ball, and in our parades. The King and Queen of our Krewe host the royalty from several krewes before our Seawall Parade. The Krewe of Lyonnesse is a Mardi Gras krewe that allows children to experience the culture and splendor of Carnival season by serving as its members, on its royal court and in its tableau. The Krewe of Triton was founded and held its first annual Tableau and Ball in 1980. The initial philosophy of the Krewe was to create a "working man's krewe" that welcomed all who wanted to enjoy the fun and merriment of Mardi Gras. Angie Vasquez was crowned queen on September 14, 2024. Her court consists of Senior Maids, Neesa Vasquez Fonseca, Addy and Raven Duet, Prince Collin Emanuel Fonseca, Princesses Sophie Claire Fonseca, Ally Mae Vasquez, and Emery Jane Callais. During the Fiesta season, the Mayokis Court takes part in a light-hearted parody of what might have happened when Spanish Conquistador Don Tristan DeLuna first landed on the shores of Pensacola Beach in 1559.
