From pup parades to traditional and brand-new Carnival krewes, here’s how the Capital Region will be letting the good times roll in the months ahead. THE KREWE OF ROMANY. The Krewe of Romany is the longest reigning all-ladies Mardi Gras Krewe in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 1949, nine imaginative and creative ladies formed the Krewe for the purpose of presenting an annual Mardi Gras Ball, with the court being the debutante daughters of its members. We are an all ladies Mardi Gras krewe located in Baton Rouge, LA. We are a group of 100 women who love Mardi Gras. There are many events that occur throughout the year, but the main event is our annual Mardi Gras ball which focuses on a tableau that presents the royal court for that year. With its expanse of bright stars, Orion, the mythological hunter of the skies, is an apt representation of diversity in the carnival krewe that bears his name. The Krewe of Orion was founded in 1998 by two young men who had a love for the spirit of Mardi Gras and a desire to bring that spirit and tradition to Baton Rouge.
