Today, nearly two dozen Krewes are recognized under the Southwest “umbrella.” The Association coordinates and manages six parades and presents an extravagant City Pageant / Ball on Mardi Gras night. The City Ball is open to the public with no admission fee. Proper dress is required. On Mardi Gras day, February 13, 2024, there are three parades in Lafayette, starting with the long-standing King Gabriel's Parade, followed by the Lafayette Mardi Gras Festival Parade, and ending The Mystic Krewe of Apollo de Lafayette is a Mardi Gras krewe that has been keeping the culture and tradition of Mardi Gras alive and on full display.
