Parades are a major part of celebrating Mardi Gras, and what's a parade without some really great floats? Ever since krewes began parading through New Orleans over 100 years ago, parade floats have played a major role in Mardi Gras history. Some floats are elaborate and beautiful, while others are funny and satirical. Covid-19 brought new challenges to the city of New Orleans, including the hard decision to cancel the traditional Mardi Gras parades in 2021. The mayor herself declared that Mardi Gras would celebrate in its own way, stating that Mardi Gras 2021 would be "different, but not canceled".
