Man’s best friend is the center of this parade through the streets of the French Quarter with their humans acting as their escorts. Barkus was created in 1992 at a meeting of the Margaret Orr (WDSU-TV Weather Anchor) Fan Club held at Good Friends Bar. 9. Krewe of Barkus Annual Mardi Gras Parade. The “Out of This World - from Astronauts to Aliens Barkus Shoots for the Stars” theme will surely include a few extraterrestrial tails wagging. The Mystic Krewe of Barkus, a parade of dogs described as the “only Mardi Gras krewe in New Orleans for the canine population,” will be running for its 32nd time on Sunday, Feb. 23. After the parade, stick around to listen to Greylan James at 3:30 pm @ Lafayette and 8th Streets on the Bud Light Concert Stage for a FREE performance. The Krewe of Barkus is a Mardi Gras parade for dogs and their owners that takes place in New Orleans, Louisiana. The event was started in 1992 by dog lovers who wanted to create a Mardi Gras parade that would be fun for both dogs and their owners. The Krewe of Barkus is known for its creative and often wacky costumes, floats, and throws. The Parade starts at 2:30 p.m. at the corner of 6th and Main and will head north to 4th and Main. The Barkus Block Pawty will take place on Main Street from 3rd Street to Capitol Avenue. The Pawty will get started at noon and resume when the parade is over. Barkus on Main is Little Rock’s largest Mardi Gras dog event of the year! There will be plenty of parades in New Orleans leading up to Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday. on March 4. Mardi Gras Southeast Texas kicks off at its new home at Doggett Ford Park on Friday, February 28, 2025 with the traditional chicken toss at 5 p.m. followed by the first parade two hours later. The Mardi Gras 4Paws, inspired by the Krewe of Barkus Parade in New Orleans, comes to Frisco on Saturday, March 1, 2025 with its own version of Mardi Gras for our four-legged friends! Hosted by the Town of Frisco and a local animal rescue, Hope For Animals, this event is a costumed parade for dogs and their families. All proceeds benefit Hope For Costumed canines and their two-legged companions will sashay along Woodland Boulevard, from Michigan Avenue to Howry Avenue. Parade starts at 11am. After the parade, stay for the Festival on Georgia Avenue which runs until 3pm. Activities for people and dogs will include entertainment, vendors, and authentic Mardi Gras food and music. Krewe Du Pooch is a non-profit dog parade and costume contest co-hosted by the City of Mandeville. Our main goal is to support local animal rescue through a fun community event with on-site dog adoptions, local vendors, food, and fun activities for everyone. Tuesday, March 4 – Papa Red Dog Mardi Gras Parade – Main Street, Loreauville. 2-4 p.m.-CANCELLED JEFFERSON DAVIS PARISH Saturday, Feb. 15 – Welsh Mardi Gras Run, Parade, and Street Dance DeLand goes to the Dogs at our 28th Annual Mardi Gras Dog Parade & Festival. The fun starts at 8:00am with the Dog Costume Contest followed by the Parade at 11:00am. The parade starts on Michigan Ave and Woodland Blvd and runs south to Howry Ave. The fun continues at our Festival on Georgia Ave immediately following the parade. For more than 20 years, DeLand has hosted a Mardi Gras dog parade and festival. The parade and following festivities will be on Saturday, Feb. 22.
