Stay tuned to the site for further info. Since its inception in 2000, the Krewe of Muses has been committed to improving our community through effective action. Together, we have helped reconstruct homes after tragedy, worked with community partners to create spectacular decorations for our parade, and raised hundreds of thousands for causes we care about deeply. Parades are so much more than just the floats. It takes many more groups to make it all come together, including marching bands, flambeauxs, and, of course, marching groups. Here are a few marching groups to be on the look out for this Carnival season. MARCHING GROUPS 2025 PARADE SCHEDULE. 610 Stompers [Gustavo Escanelle] 610 STOMPERS Mardi Gras Parade Bands is a 3rd generation family business that organizes several of the largest New Orleans Mardi Gras parades. Learn about the history, the krewes, and how to join the parade with them. The inaugural parade had six floats, six bands, six marching units, one horse group, and a motorcycle squadron. Today, this krewe is comprised of 625 male and female riders, 26 floats, ten bands, and a number of marching and riding groups. Mystic Krewe of Femme Fatale is the first krewe founded by African American women for African American women, but all women are welcome. The krewe parades on the Uptown route the first Sunday of Mardi Gras season and engages in community service projects such as "Say Yes to the Prom Dress". Some people refer to Carnival and Mardi Gras interchangeably, although Carnival technically stretches the whole season from January 6th to Fat Tuesday, while Mardi Gras is Fat Tuesday itself. No matter when Fat Tuesday falls in a given year, there is an entire Carnival season leading up to it, filled with weeks of parades, parties, and The first ball was held in 1857 by the Mistick Krewe of Comus. Comus hosted the first parade, followed by Rex in 1872, which debuted the king of Mardi Gras. The Rex parade gave Mardi Gras the official colors of purple to represent justice, green to represent faith, and gold to represent power.
