Many people showed up to celebrate Mardi Gras in the streets of downtown Huntsville with live music, costumes, and bead throwing. The event kicked off early Saturday morning with a 5K run and wrapped up with a special pet parade. The Huntsville Police Department (HPD) will close several streets in downtown Huntsville to ensure public safety during the annual Mardi Gras Parade. Street closures will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 1, ahead of the parade, which will start at 3:30 p.m. at the intersection of Meridian Street and Cleveland Avenue.
