Join in the celebration and let the good times roll! Traditionally known as Courir de Mardi Gras, festivities occur in towns throughout central Louisiana’s Cajun Country. Rooted in French medieval history and brought to Louisiana in the 19th century, Courir de Mardi Gras has many rituals that come together in a celebration on Fat Tuesday (Feb. 25, 2020). The Mamou Mardi Gras 2025 will take place starting Saturday, March 1st with live music and then winds back up on Monday, March 3rd, and Tuesday, March 4th, 2025. EVANGELINE PARISH — Mardi Gras is fast approaching, and celebrations are set to take place across Louisiana, including right here in Mamou. Feb 12, 2024, 5: The Courir de Mardi Gras starts early in downtown Mamou. The Mardi Gras riders, in their masks and colorful fringed costumes, gather just after dawn at the American Legion Hall in the small Cajun town of Mamou. For some, the non-stop party and drinking began the night before and will continue all Tuesday in a horseback ride through the rural Mamou’s Courir de Mardi Gras is beginning at 7:30 a.m. The parade will roll at 10 a.m., following the run. After the parade there will be a trail ride. To end the night, community gumbo will be Mamou Mardi Gras in downtown Mamou; MARCH 4, 2025.
