Annual parades in St. John the Baptist Parish are set to roll this weekend before Mardi Gras as tradition holds. The Towahpahsah Parade will begin at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, February 10, 2024, and the Krewe of Dage’ Parade will begin at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, February 11, 2024, and will both follow their traditional routes in Reserve and LaPlace. The Towahpahsah Parade starts at noon on Mar. 1, 2025, followed by the Krewe of Agape/Krewe of Dage Parade at 11:00 a.m. on Mar. 2, 2025. Both parades will traverse traditional routes through Reserve and LaPlace, upholding cherished community traditions. The routes for the 2025 Towahpahsah Parade have changed slightly from those in 2024. However, for the safety of citizens due to ongoing construction, parts of Main Street in LaPlace will be barricaded. The Krewe of Dagé’s impact has grown by leaps and bounds since it was founded in August 2018, according to member Jean Stewart. There is currently a 15-group waiting list to join the annual parade, and the group’s Mardi Gras Soiree scheduled for February 4 at 321 Events in LaPlace quickly sold out. The festivities begin with the Krewe of Towahpahsah Parade rolling at noon on Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Reserve.
