Named for a 100-eyed giant in Greek mythology whose eyes were transferred to the peacock’s tail, the krewe uses a peacock as its principal symbol. The all-male krewe had presented Mardi Gras season balls in years past, and in 2020 decided to produce a parade. COVID put the kibosh on Carnival 2021, but last year Symphony made its debut. The Krewe of Argus, founded in 1972, includes 450 male, female and child riders.
