Mardi Gras World is open 7 days a week, from 9:00am to 5:30pm, with the first admission beginning at 9:00am and last admission at 4:30pm. Mardi Gras World is closed on Christmas and Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving, Easter and Mardi Gras Day. The Mardi Gras Museum is a Contemporary celebration of the vast array of grassroots traditions of Mardi Gras. Come see the pageantry, fun, and creativity that makes the Mardi Gras experience so rich. Mardi Gras World is an interesting place to visit because you will have an opportunity to learn about the float design process. Visitors watch a short film on the history of Mardi Gras. Once the film is over you can sample a slice of King Cake, try on some Mardi Gras attire, and then walk through the warehouse to see a variety of floats/props. Although I enjoy visiting New Orleans, I have never wanted to visit during Mardi Gras. Visiting the Mardi Gras Museum of Costumes allowed us insight on the history, costumes, and pageantry of Mardi Gras. The museum is small & the tour is short, so it was perfect introduction to Mardi Gras. The museum is open Saturday 11:30 am – 3:30 pm guided tours at Noon and 2 PM.
