Stay tuned to the site for further info. Mardi Gras in the French Quarter. New Orleans is famous for being a city that knows how to throw a party. And, Mardi Gras is the biggest party of them all. It is an absolute must-do experience in New Orleans. Mardi Gras is on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 this year. The weeks leading up to Fat Tuesday, known as Carnival season, make Mardi Gras one of Mardi Gras parades and parties are undoubtedly the main event but remember to check out other fascinating attractions while you’re in the French Quarter this February. Take a break from catching beads and take the family to see the sights around historic Jackson Square , such as the beautiful St. Louis Cathedral . The parade will travel down Decatur through the French Quarter until making a right on St. Phillip St. to Royal St. At Royal St. the parade will turn left and proceed to Toulouse St. The krewe will travel down Toulouse until reaching Decatur St where they turn right and head west. The Krewe Bohème is a marching parade which travels through the Marigny and the French Quarter. It is the first parade to roll after Twelfth Night. Their goal is to present a visual and auditory feast of mystery, artistry and fun. The Krewe of Bosom Buddies & Breast Friends is a walking krewe that parades in the French Quarter on the Friday before Mardi Gras. The parade starts and ends on Bourbon Street, and the krewe is usually dressed in tutus, bras and hats that reflect that year’s theme. The signature throw is a hand-decorated bra. The City of New Orleans has granted a permit to the 2025 Krewe of Cleopatra parade, which will take place Friday, Feb. 21, 2025.Expect road closures and traffic delays during the event in the Audubon, West Riverside, Uptown, Touro, Milan, Garden District, Central City, Lower Garden District, Central Business District, and French Quarter neighborhoods. Expect delays during the parade. Traveling to Cemeteries (outbound), bus will detour away from Rampart, instead taking Basin to N Claiborne to Esplanade Ave, resuming regular route. Le Pass is perfect for Mardi Gras! When Mardi Gras is in full flow, navigating the streets of the French Quarter may be a challenge. If you have a car, park it near the French Quarter. Canal Place, located at the end of Canal Street, is also a viable choice if access is not obstructed by a procession. Driving to a parade can be a hassle ahead of Mardi Gras parades. and taxis/TNCs will be allowed to drive vehicles into the French Quarter starting 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2 through 6 a.m Tip: We’ve attended the parade before and my best advice is to find a spot on the parade’s route along the river somewhere between Riverside and French Quarter. You can then walk to the French Quarter lobby at the end of the parade to get a better look at the golf cart floats after they park. Just can’t get enough Mardi Gras?
