Mardi Gras is always a festive time for Lafayette residents. The first parade will be Friday, Feb. 21, according to the South Louisiana is home to the greatest free party on earth, a colorful celebration known as Mardi Gras. The City of Lafayette barricade placement and parade schedule for March 5-7 is as follows: Wednesday, March 5 – Public Works crews will not be working on the roadways. Thursday, March 6 and Friday, March 7, 7:00 a.m. – Public Works crews will remove barricades from the Mardi Gras route and return them to the Public Works yard on Dorset Ave. The Lafayette Police Department is in final preparation for the Mardi Gras parade season here in the City of Lafayette. The first Parade will begin on Friday, February 21, 2025 at 7:00 pm (Krewe Three parades are scheduled on Mardi Gras. All the parades will begin at Pontiac Point (Jefferson Street at Surrey Street) and end at Cajun Field.
