Located at the site of the old Mobile County Courthouse at Government Street and Royal Street, Mardi Gras Park commemorates the city’s standing as the host of the first Mardi Gras celebration in the United States. It features colorful statues of popular Carnival characters including Joe Cain. It is a popular corner of the main parade route. Celebrate Caribbean Culture with the Gulf Coast Caribbean Carnival, on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Mardi Gras Park. Downtown Mobile will be the scene of beautiful Caribbean costumes, music, vendors, and good clean family fun. A parade through downtown will end at Mardi Gras Park with a Gulf Coast Caribbean Carnival Festival. The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center.
