PALM RESTAURANT (Main Dining Room) The Palm Restaurant, the ship’s primary dining venue, can be found on Decks 6 and 7, and its name comes from those decks. The ship's architects noted that Mardi Gras requires a different dining flow, as the ship does not work if all guests eat their meals in the main dining room and Lido. From Baltimore: Carnival Pride If we were to do Mardi Gras again, we would definitely do your time dining. Didn't eat in the buffet the entire cruise. It was pretty underwhelming. The MDR was OK. The quick dining options were fantastic, like Guys Burgers, Big Chicken, Pizzeria, Panini, Guys BBQ, etc. Cucina del Capitano, for us, was the best meal on the ship! Carnival ChiBang restaurant is available on the Carnival Excel Class Ships including Mardi Gras, Celebration, and Jubilee ships and offers a mix of Chinese and Mexican flavors. Diners can enjoy this Chibang menu Carnival for free for now while on the cruise. Also, on Mardi Gras with YTD you have the option to dine in the dining room, Cucina del Capitano, Chibang, and Pig and Anchor. For Pig and Anchor you just show up, but you check in on the app for the others. The original Mardi Gras ship was launched under a different name in 1960, before becoming a Carnival ship and gaining the Mardi Gras name in 1972. Carnival sold the ship in 1993, after which the Im going on Mardi Gras next February. Really looking forward to it. When we sailed on Mariner of the Seas at the start of the month, Mardi Gras was leaving Port Canaveral at the same time. Everyone in our group was jealous, though mostly because of the roller coaster. The roller coast looks cool, but im not excited about spending $15/ride. Mardi Gras Ship Stats.
