Compared to the Royal Caribbean Wonder of the Seas, the Mardi Gras is 24% smaller in terms of overall tons. Ship Size. The Wonder of the Seas is considered an extra large size ship. Coming in at 1,188 feet long and 210 feet wide, it's roughly the length of 3.3 football fields, as wide as 4 tractor-trailers and the same height as a 16-story building. Compared to the Carnival Mardi Gras, the Wonder of the Seas is 31% larger in terms of overall tons. Mardi Gras and her sister Celebration have a few more free food options than every ship older than them. Both companies ships usually have free slides and flowrider surfing. Both ships have seven day itineraries from Port Canaveral. Both are big, I went on the Mardi Gras Last year and my wife has been on the Wonder of the Seas and the Mardi Gras. They're different experiences (from what my wife said). The Wonder of the Seas is a boat about the big stuff. big shows, big dinners, big crowds. The Mardi Gras is set up to be a lot more like cruising a downtown at night. The Wonder Of The Seas is currently the largest cruise passenger ship in the world. Be ready for crowds on both ships. If your younger and like a lot of action I would pick the Mardi Gras. If your looking for more of a subdued type voyage I would pick the Wonder Of The Seas. Wonder I felt had more activities (flowrider, slides, kid's splash area was larger than Celebration), and I can't speak to the kid's clubs on either ship. Water slides on both ships were great. Wonder has 3 "main" pools in the middle area, and the adult only area in the very front of the ship is leaps and bounds ahead of Celebration/Mardi Gras. Both Harmony of the Seas and Carnival Mardi Gras are two of the largest vessels in each cruise line’s fleet. As such, we found these ships features more things to do than we had time for! To start, Royal Caribbean is known for creating jam-packed cruise ships with nonstop fun thanks to a plethora of onboard thrills. Wonder of the Seas Passenger Capacity (Double/Max): 5,734/7,084. 4. Royal Caribbean Symphony of the Seas is a sister ship to the famed Mardi Gras and a "celebration" for the cruise line's 50th One thing I dislike about Wonder of the Seas and other oasis class ships are you really feel separated from the ocean. It can feel a little bit more like a hotel or a mall than a cruise ship sometimes. The Mardi Gras does a much better job of having spots that highlight the water with the lower promenade and other venues. The Royal Caribbean Utopia of the Seas is a fairly new ship, being built in 2024. The Utopia of the Seas is the first Oasis-class ship to run on LNG, a cleaner burning fuel. It's 3 years newer than the Mardi Gras, which was built in 2021. The Mardi Gras pays homage to Carnival's first ship, also named the Mardi Gras. Thank you for watching! Icon of the Seas is the first in a whole new class of ships by Royal Caribbean that's designed to provide the "ultimate family vacation." It is currently the largest cruise ship in the world. It's 3 years newer than the Mardi Gras, which was built in 2021. The Mardi Ship Size. The Mardi Gras is considered a large size ship. The Mardi Gras pays homage to Carnival's first ship, also named the Mardi Gras. It has two unique zones not found on its sister ships: The French Quarter, a New Orleans-themed area, and La Piazza, which is dedicated to the Italian heritage of Carnival cabins. Mardi Gras definitely has the better itinerary, but I would personally pick the Oasis over the Mardi Gras in terms of the ship itself. As a disclaimer, I've only been on one of the Oasis' sister ships, the Symphony of the Seas, and haven't been on the new Carnival ships.
