Mardi Gras Shoe Box Float Craft Supples. A shoe box with the lid (Any size will do – an adult shoe box gives you more room to decorate, but a children’s shoe box takes less time! Make sure it’s a shoe box that has a totally removable lid, not an attached one like on a Nike box.) Glue (We used a hot glue gun and Tacky Glue.) All contest entries must be submitted by Friday, February 12. Remember that all entries should be appropriate for viewing by all ages. To ensure that your float is within contest guidelines, the float must be constructed using a traditional cardboard shoebox. Your float creations will be judged by a panel of judges, regardless of submission type. The Lake Charles Convention and Visitors Bureau is getting ready for Mardi Gras with shoe boxes. The Bureau announced the winners of their 9th annual Shoebox Float Contest Saturday afternoon. Children, adults, organizations and even schools participated, creating mini sized festive shoe boxes out of cardboard, construction paper, beads and more.
