Mardi Gras plus scattered winter school breaks and stray holidays means heavy crowds during what’s otherwise winter “off-season” at Walt Disney World. This stretch of February will be busy, with higher wait times, attendance, and congestion in Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios. Let’s start with the good news. Mardi Gras 2025 won’t [] In 2025, Mardi Gras will not coincide with Presidents’ Day (the holidays occur one week apart instead), effectively diluting the crowds. It’s thus possible that this week won’t end up being among the worst 10–that really depends upon how spring break play out. In 2026, Mardi Gras is back to occurring during this same week. When Presidents’ Day and Mardi Gras coincide, it’s one of the 5 worst weeks at Walt Disney World because the crowds from both breaks are consolidated into a single week, rather than two different weeks. As a result, both of those weeks will be elevated, but not insanely crowded. If you’re visiting Disney World or staying at the Port Orleans Resorts next week, you might like to check out the parade. The parade features music, select Disney characters, beads, and candy are given out along the parade route. Several Disney Springs eateries, such as House of Blues and Maria & Enzo’s, celebrate Mardi Gras (or Carnevale, the Venice version of Mardi Gras) with special meals or menu items. Usually these special meals and menus are offered for several weeks.
