Royal Caribbean Odyssey of the Seas holds 21% fewer passengers than the Mardi Gras based on double occupancy (two people per room). When you compare the total tonnage of the ship to the number of passengers, or what we call the "Space Ratio," the Odyssey of the Seas has more space per person compared to the Mardi Gras. The Carnival Mardi Gras has a total of 6 pools and 7 hot tubs. 2 of the pools are exclusive access, which means there's either an extra charge to access them or you need to book a certain class of cabin to have access to them. Crowds: I think crowd management was better on Oasis vs Mardi Gras. It seemed like every spot of open deck space on Mardi Gras had a bar in it, which limited space and made it difficult to relax. Comparatively, Mardi Gras has 20+ complimentary eateries onboard - and they’re all pretty dang delicious. We ran out of time to try every option onboard, although we did try our best.
