In anticipation of the groundbreaking mega-ship, we decided to round up fifteen renderings of exciting spaces throughout the vessel. You've likely already seen exterior ship renderings and images of Mardi Gras' BOLT rollercoaster, so we wanted to bring you some other spaces you may not have seen before! In addition to now having family ties to the brand new Mardi Gras, the family has ties to the original too. That original ship was Carnival's first ship ever. It hit the high seas way back in 1972. Bridgett's grandparents, Carl and Lena Stewart, set sail on the ship a few years later- in 1977. Renowned chef Emeril Lagasse brings big flavors to Carnival Mardi Gras with this bistro. It is not complimentary to guests, however. The 1396 in the name refers to Carnival Mardi Gras being the 1,396th ship that was built at Meyer Turku in Finland. Slated to enter service in February 2021, Mardi Gras will offer weeklong Caribbean itineraries from Port Canaveral as the first LNG-powered ship in North America. Today, the Carnival Mardi Gras was turned over to the company by the shipbuilders, Meyer Turku. With that transfer, we got some of the first real looks inside of the Mardi Gras. It looks like it’s going to be an impressive ship, but let’s go over some of our first impressions. Built in 2020, the Carnival Cruise Line Carnival Mardi Gras cruise ship weighs 181K tons and has 2641 staterooms for up to 6338 passengers served by 1745 crew. There are 18 passenger decks, 11 with cabins.
