The theme was “50 Years of Magic” celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World. The parade ran from Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside to Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter. We always watch it at Port Orleans French Quarter. Disney’s Port Orleans Resort’s Mardi Gras Parade kicked off at 10:00 a.m. at Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside as always, traveling to and through Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter. A large banner says “Disney’s Port Orleans Resort Mardi Gras Celebration”. Then, it was time to head over to Disney’s Port Orleans Resort for the annual Mardi Gras golf cart parade! The golf cart parade, or pargo parade, kicks off at the Riverside side of the resort, before rolling alongside the Sassagoula River, and then ending at the French Quarter side of the resort. Those rooms are a cautionary tale in pushing character integration too far, and they look cheesy as a result. This room is clearly Mardi Gras and Princess and the Frog-inspired, without going overboard with it. These Port Orleans French Quarter rooms thread the needle better, highlighting Disney characters and themed design at the same time.
